Marion Peck is a well established painter in the Northwest, earning accolades for the 10+ years she has been exhibiting in galleries locally and elsewhere. Both narrative and dream inspired, she creates work that could be described as a more grounded sort of surrealism. Even a seemingly offhand, creamy portrait of kittens gazing benignly from a basket reveals a third eye on each kitten, raising a host of interesting questions for the viewer. Infused with a new countercultural pop tone and a brighter color palette, the paintings still convey a sense of the murky, yet magical, corners of the subconscious - enigmatic, sensual, and endlessly fascinating.
