Mark Newport
Mark Newport was born in 1964 in Amsterdam, New York, and currently lives in Mesa, Arizona and works in Tempe, Arizona as a member of the faculty of the ASU School of Art. The artist did his undergraduate studies at Kansas City Art Institute 1986 and went on to earn an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago 1991.
Superhero Pantheon: is a hand-knit and embroidered Work at, Greg Kucera Gallery, where Newport shows hand-knit superhero costumes. Well-known classics such as Spider-Man , Batman, and the Fantastic Four hang alongside lesser-known models such as the Escapist (from Michael Chabon's novel The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay) and the hooded Patriot, a red-white-and-blue invention of the artist.
